Phil M and Karl
It was another day in Slovenia;
hot, sunny and nothing to do if we are not
paddling. This morning we got ourselves out
of bed and went down for stretching at 7.00.
Following stretching was breakfast, another
exciting one with the same boring stuff. Most
of us wish we had our mothers here to make
us the awesome food we love. At 9am we headed
for the river and got ready for the morning
session. We had full length runs and looked
at the course for 2 hours before hitting the
water. Our hopes are hard to keep high when
you see 6 foot 4 kayak paddlers built like
bricks performing like they are 25, but we
are keeping our heads up and are ready to
do best. Official scrutineering of equipment
was at 12:00 noon for the Aussie team, most
boats passed with a few requiring additional
weight to bring them up to regulation racing
weight. After the session we returned to the
DOM for lunch, later in the afternoon half
the team went for a swim at the local Kayak
club.
Some of us had some work to
do on our boats to get them ready for the
race. This was a good thing because it took
up some of the day which we would have just
sat around and watched TV.
Dinner was next with the entire team going
to a pizza joint except for poor Roz who got
take away soup and noodles as she has been
sick most of the day. She was stuck back home
chatting up the French and playing cards with
them. (and trying to make them sick so we
can win) YES!
Johno spotted a hot chick on
arriving home after tea and immediately started
trying to impress her. His attempts are still
in progress so we'll update you on that later.
Now it is bed time. We have to be ready for
an early training session in the morning.
Hope everyone is well back in AUS.
Cheers
Phil & Karl
