Friday, 30/6/06 - Day 7

Roz and Emmie

Before we start on today's activities we have a little bit to add to yesterday's excitement. After dinner we ventured out to a festival, which included a live band, 'The Stroj' who are one of the most popular bands in Europe. The players used wicked homemade instruments including 44-gallon drums and fireworks created with an angle grinder. The front man freaked us out when he started fire eating and walking on glass. The music delighted the paddlers but did not appeal to the Wicked Step Nannies' taste.
This morning we crawled out of bed, ate brekky and headed off to the course for our first session of full length runs. This was our last session at Solkan before trekking off to Bovec for a relaxing few days. On the way into the mountains we stopped in at a Slovenian war museum in Kobarid where we learnt a little about the local wartime history.
We are now in Bovec, which is a small town at the base of the mountains, with loads of cute cafes & fantastic ice creameries. Some of the team (including the manager) attempted a short run. We are looking forward to a good nights sleep and what will hopefully be an awesome river trip tomorrow.
Hope you are all snuggled up nice and warm by the fire, we're over here working on our sun tans.
